Intermittent Fasting

Benefits That Extend Beyond Weight Loss

In my coaching practice, I offer a free consultation and I’ve often heard the client express concerns because they’ve either heard of, or actually experienced difficulty in doing intermittent fasting (I/F).  Understandably so because, much of the information available is very incomplete.  I’m trained to teach my clients how to properly do I/F.  When done correctly, cravings and hunger disappear.  Keep in mind, that I WAS the woman who couldn’t go longer than 2 hours without eating.  Now, I’m comfortably doing a 22 hour daily fast and a periodic 60 plus hour fast.  Me and my clients report success and feeling great on our I/F programs.

Most people are interested in I/F for the weight loss benefits.  A great reason for sure, but did you know that when intermittent fasting is done correctly and consistently, there are many additional benefits?  Here are the highlights:

  • Causes inches to melt off, due to the burning of stored body fat.

  • Improves insulin resistance.

  • Builds a stronger immune system.

  • Boosts serotonin and endorphins causing improved pain and elevated mood.

  • Stimulates stem cells.

  • Causes the body’s natural clean-up of pathogens and old damaged material.

  • Reduces inflammation.

  • Boosts antioxidants.

  • Produces ketone fuel from body fat storage.  The brain and heart love ketones.

  • Boosts the anti-aging hormone called growth hormone.

  • Allows the gut to rest and chill out, improving digestive health.

  • Improves the strength of body tissues due to the boost of growth hormone and recycling of old damaged proteins.

As a bonus, you’ll save money on your food expense, and you’ll be able to afford higher quality food as well.  It’s the least expensive step that you can take in improving your overall health.  You’ll even find, that eating becomes less of a daily priority and you’ll have more free time.  This was a pleasant surprise for me, and I’ve really enjoyed this benefit.

When I begin coaching a new client, my first goal is to educate them on the whys – this is a crucial first step in their long-term success.  Then, a careful action plan is implemented that guides them into this process.  When followed, the client moves into ketosis quickly, stays there and the old cravings and hunger go away.
